There are plenty of ways to fit things into small places in your home, however what is the most efficient way? 

Personally the most efficient way to optimize your storage space for the maximum amount of stuff is to measure. Here's what I would do ↓

1. Measure your space with the amount of shelves you have and the height of each shelf so if you can, you can stack boxes.

2. Go to Walmart, Dollar General, or Dollar Tree and find baskets or bins that correspond with your measurements

3. Finally, you will have stylish baskets or bins that fit perfectly in your closet!

Other Ways to Save Space

Other ways to save space on your shelves is by using different sized bins or even wall hanging bins. Bins that hang on the wall are AMAZING because they take up the wall space and not your shelves. Using command hooks are also get ways to save space especially if you have a lot of items to hang. 

P.S. This is just me however you can also DIY these baskets or bins to have labels on them and paint them to fit the design of your home!

Space saving does not always have to go with shelves, this also works for coffee tables to house magazines or anything else you would like to store underneath your coffee table. You can also save cabinet space by using a hanging pot apparatus over your island or use command hooks to hang dishtowels in your kitchen.

Construction

There are also space saving ideas for new construction of homes and remodels. When using a designer and architect, they can work together to create the most aesthetic and functional design for your space. Using built-in's are a space saving hack in new construction because they are dual purpose meaning; you can put a closet in one bedroom and then using that same wall you put a built-in desk space on the other side. This can also work for remodels as well, adding a built in to an existing wall.

Organization

Organization is a big factor in storage because if everything is organized wrong then saving space will be hard. If your not good at organizing or if you just don't have time for it there are businesses out there that organize for you. They can organize many spaces in your home such as pantries, closets, or offices.

Appliances are often overlooked because people see them as clunky black or stainless steel machines when in reality they are a intricate part of the kitchen and design as a whole. Appliances can and should go with the final design because they can be designed themselves. For example we have a brand (GE Cafe) in the showroom you can change colors of the handles that go on your fridge, oven or range. 

How cool is that?!?

Your appliances can and should compliment the design not hinder it. With the choice of choosing your handles for your appliances, you can have them match or almost match your cabinet pulls. This way everything in the design compliments each other and works cohesively.

Technology

You also need to consider for appliances just how advanced technologically you want the appliances to be. Some appliances have the whole works and some have just the bare basics. It just all depends on what you want with your appliances.

Energy Saving

Another thing that is popular today is energy efficiency. Saving energy therefore saving our planet is important with appliances and your energy bill! By getting an energy efficient fridge or dishwasher you could be saving money. 

All in all there are many factors that go into selecting your appliances, but these are the main ones you should keep in mind when selecting appliances.
